About Murray, KY - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

In the state of Kentucky, the city of Murray is located in the Calloway County. As the County Seat, it is the administrative center and looks over official affairs. It has a population of 17,741 people and a total area of 13.3 square miles of which 0.04 square miles is water. The area now known as Murray was first a trade center and named Williston after an early settler. This was later changed to Pooltown, after Robert Pool. The city was called Pleasant Springs before it was incorporated in 1844 and named after Representative John Murray.

The city offers a taste of the rich southern culture through its fantastic sites and events. Each year, Murray hosts the Freedom Fest celebrations in the Summer. Festivities include a parade and the flagship ‘Fireworks Extravaganza’ that spectators look forward to. Other highlights include the farmer’s market and 5km run. Thousands of people drive to the city each year to view the spectacle.

For those who seek inspiration and enrichment, the city has a treasure of art galleries and museums. The Clara M. Eagle Gallery is one such example; the multi-leveled building is home to over 1,200 pieces of art. It frequently holds exhibitions to display diverse collections such as African art, woodwork, and tapestries that were designed and made in Spain. The Murray State University houses the Wrather West Kentucky Museum. It displays several relics and artifacts that are crucial in explaining the social and cultural development in the region.

Typical of the southern region, the climate of Murray is best described as humid subtropical. Features of such climate include warm weather with July having the highest temperatures of up to 90oF. The warm climate is good for outdoor events like cookouts and picnics, but homeowners should make sure to install adequate cooling systems for hotter months.
