The city of Eddyville belongs to the state of Kentucky and lies in the Lyon County. By serving as the county seat, the city takes up various administrative responsibilities that need to be looked after. The city has a population of 2,554 and has a total area of up to 7.8 square miles of which 1.1 square miles is water. The first settlers arrived in the area now known as Eddyville in 1799, and the city soon became the county seat of Livingston and Caldwell counties. 

The city offers visitors with the opportunity to engage in various activities such fishing, golfing and hiking. Lake Barkley is formed because of the construction of the Barkley Dam. It offers recreational opportunities to various residents.  Since Lyon County is one the more historically rich county in the area, it’s a given that the same can be said for Eddyville. Most visitors don’t know of the time the city was relocated when Lake Barkley was to be formed. The old city boasts of offering an exciting experience around the winter time when the depth of the lake reduces by 5 feet. Around that time, it’s easy to view the streets and road that were present there before the lake was formed.

The Mineral Mound Golf Course will offer visitors with a challenging yet enjoyable golfing experience. The Location is near Lake Barkley which also contributes to a beautiful view that you can enjoy during your game. You can take a trip to the Rose Hill Museum to get a valuable insight into the city's cultural and social background. The climate of Eddyville is sure to make all your trips outdoors even more pleasant. The warm climate occasionally features high temperatures of up to 89F in July with the January low being 27F.
